It was another great day flying. The afternoon thermal activity kept us on a rollercoaster and made the landings fun. I had an impressive bounce on landing at Beach City that was recorded for posterity because Phil snuck a GoPro camera into the airplane and left it turned it on for the flight to Elser. There should be some video coming of great flying by Ron and well, a fly. The fly hopped into the cockpit for a ride in Ashland and will probably be seen walking around the windshield for most of Phil’s video.
Mike Stanko and crew are amazing in every way and we were met by the Valley’s best news teams for live video feeds and interviews. Sandie brought home made muffins, her oatmeal cookies sustained us most of day two. I think Ron is hiding one but I will find it. We met Peppy! Look for a great story about her flying a Cub in the late 1940s an 1950s.
I have limited access today so I can’t upload photos, will try again from Auglaize. Amy will be back blogging our arrival and departures and –back by popular demand–Mike will be uploading a Daily Flight Log. Amy picked up an extra battery for the iPhone, so this will help to feed Siri and let you all know what is going on.
Thanks to all for the great receptions at the airports. We’ve been to 32 counties and will be working our way west again today.
